Patch Adams

Patch Adams was born in Washington, D.C. on May 28th 1945. He founded Gesundheit! Institute. Adams graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University, The George Washington University and Medical College of Virginia. He has worked as a doctor, and his current occupation is a clown. He lived in Virginia.

He helped people not with medicine but making them laugh and have a good time at one point he was in an institute for wanting to take his life but eventually got out and decided that he had wanted to become a doctor that doesn’t use medicine but happiness. Shortly after a year or two in the hospital he built a infirmary that was free in west Virginia and it was on a huge plot of land that he would later buy in his life. He lived there with his college friends and did not charge anyone that went there. He did however have to make the cabin/infirmary bigger so everyone despite the pain helped him make it an amazing hospital. Though he was not registered as a doctor his principle is guess you would call it banned him from the hospital that had belonged to the school. He went to doctor’s court and he had to fight for his right to stay in the school and keep the infirmary. He won thankfully but he faced many challenges getting to this point, for instance one of his friends had gotten murdered by a insane patient he had treated.

He is still alive today or at least the website does not say that he has died. It is amazing what this man accomplished in his life especially building a hospital out of a wood cabin. They have made a movie about him and it is a really good one. But it isn’t the same as the original story.
