Facts about all kinds of amazing things.

In 1964 a 4,844 year old Bristle cone was found in the Humboldt National Forest on Wheeler Peak in Nevada. Soon after its discovery it was cut down by a geology student. He was studying the dates of glacial features in the area. He did so by taking core samples from trees or extracting a thin cross section of the tree to count the rings to determine their age. When testing this tree the coring tool became stuck inside. He received permission to cut the tree down to retrieve the tool. He had just destroyed the oldest living tree - the oldest living thing - on earth!

First a mother frog lays her eggs. Second the eggs begin to grow until they break out. After it hatches the egg gets named a tadpole the tadpole breaths under water with its gills. Next the tadpole begins to grow a tail. About when the tail is 2 inches long it’ll start growing its back legs. Soon its back legs will have grown in and it will start swimming to the surface for air then its front legs will start to grow. After all of its legs are all grown it will start to lose its tail. After the tail is gone completely it is a full grown frog.

A mural is a picture that is covering a whole wall. Some murals are carved in the wall and some are just plain painted. Murals have been around for more than 2,000 years. Romans did murals on there walls one that is still up today shows a bakery with people waiting in line the baker behind the counter and baking supplies behind him. I love murals there always so colorful.

  2. Andrea,

You introduce the Bristlecone pine tree by stating a date. You need a comma after the year because that is an introductory phrase. How old was the tree, could you have given the reader more information?

You did a decent job of describing the life cycle of the frog. You do need to read what you write and not forget to put a period at the end of a sentence.

You did a good job on telling about what a mural is and giving good examples. Don't be afraid to write a bunch about a topic, sometimes you are not giving the reader enough information.

Your word count is 283 words.
    Grade: 23/25
    1pt commas
    1pt sentence structure.

    love mommy :)
