Common Limpet, Constutution, Bill of Rights

Abundant on rocks from the high to low water mark, the common limpet is superbly adapted to shore life. A conical shell protects it from predators and the elements. Common Limpets live at the low water mark and are buffeted by the waves and so require smaller, flatter shells than those living at the high water mark, where wider, taller shells allow for better water retention during periods of exposure. Limpets travel slowly during low tide, covering up to 24 in (60 cm) using contractions of their single foot. They graze on algae from rocks using a radula (a rasp like structure), which has teeth reinforced with iron minerals.

Here are some facts about the constitution! The U.S. Constitution has 4,400 words. It is the oldest and shortest written Constitution of any major government in the world. Of the spelling errors in the Constitution, “Pennsylvania” above the signers’ names is probably the most glaring. Thomas Jefferson did not sign the Constitution. He was in France during the Convention, where he served as the U.S. minister. John Adams was serving as the U.S. minister to Great Britain during the Constitutional Convention and did not attend either. The Constitution is a really important piece of paper.

On September 25, 1789 Congress transmitted to the state Legislatures twelve proposed amendments to the Constitution. Numbers three through twelve were adopted by the states to become the United States (U.S.) Bill of Rights, effective December 15, 1791. James Madison proposed the U.S. Bill of Rights. It largely responded to the Constitution's influential opponents, including prominent Founding Fathers, who argued that the Constitution should not be ratified because it failed to protect the basic principles of human liberty. The U.S. Bill of Rights was influenced by George Mason's 1776 Virginia Declaration of Rights, the 1689 English Bill of Rights, works of the Age of Enlightenment pertaining to natural rights, and earlier English political documents such as the Magna Carta (1215.

George Mason, Leopard Seal, and Music Terms.

He was one of the most affluent of the colonial Virginia planters. In his triple capacity as trustee of Alexandria justice of the Fairfax county court, and vestryman of Truro parish, Mason exercised great influence in local politics. In 1752 he became a member of the Ohio Company (serving as treasurer until 1773), and in 1759 he was elected to the Virginia house of burgesses. An early opponent of British colonial policy, he drafted the non importation resolutions adopted (1769) by the burgesses against the British and also wrote (1774) the Fairfax Resolves, which restated the constitutional position of the colonies in relation to the crown. Mason served on the Virginia committee of safety, and as a member of the Virginia constitutional convention of 1776 he drafted the well-known declaration of rights, which was extensively copied by other American states, and which was drawn on by Thomas Jefferson in the first part of the Declaration of Independence. He was a member of the Constitutional Convention at Philadelphia (1787) and took part in drafting in the construction.

The Leopard Seal is the second largest of all seals out there. They are very strong animals and they tend to take over the areas where they reside. They are dark gray in color and can weigh up to 1,300 pounds. They can also be about 11 feet long. The females are smaller than the males but still quite large compared to other types of seals.

I was asked to define theses music terms. Baritone: a male voice or voice part intermediate between tenor and bass. Cota: a more or less independent message. Jota: a Spanish dance in triple meter, performed by a couple and marked by complex rhythms executed with the heels and castanets. Loure: A slow, dignified, French dance. Pitch: to put. Rhapsody: an instrumental composition irregular in form and suggestive of improvisation.

History of the Candy Cane, Bighorn sheep, and Sentences

Bighorn sheep are one of two species of mountain sheep in North America. They range in color from light brown to grayish or dark brown, and have a white rump and lining on the backs of all four legs. Bighorn sheep get their names from the large, curved horns on the males, or rams. They are legendary for their ability to climb high, steep, rocky mountain areas. Bighorn sheep have very big horns they must weigh 1 to 2 pounds on their head.

Here are some sentences containing my spelling words! I can draw a triangle. Moraine sounds likes rain. The football was in no range of me. I saw a vulture high in the sky. My mom told me to look up the definition for composite so I did. The scientists said that the new plant was a carnivore I was so shocked that there was a new plant. Jamie asked Kelley what the definition was for monolith. Cirque is one of my spelling words. There are 4 oceans’ the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean. The glass was rupturing on the floor. He will call you eventually. The teacher asked Johnny what the definition for leisure was Johnny didn’t know. Johnny knew how to evaluate. I live in a building. My mom asked me what segments are. I don’t understand the definition for erratic. Seizure is seizing. I have a solution to this problem. Carefully put the glasses away.

The origin of the candy cane goes back over 350 years, when candy-makers both professional and amateur were making hard sugar sticks. The original candy was straight and completely white in color. Around the seventeenth century, European-Christians began to adopt the use of Christmas trees as part of their Christmas celebrations. They made special decorations for their trees from foods like cookies and sugar-stick candy. The first historical reference to the familiar cane shape goes back to 1670, when the choirmaster at the Cologne Cathedral in Germany, bent the sugar-sticks into canes to represent a shepherd's staff. The all-white candy canes were given out to children during the long-winded nativity services.

Poinsettia Day, Chemicals, and Drums.

Today is poinsettia day. A poinsettia is a type of flower. Poinsettia’s are a type of flower that cats can’t be around there is something in the flower that can make cats sick. December 12th is Poinsettia Day. The date marks the death of Joel Roberts Poinsett, an American botanist, physician and Minister to Mexico who in 1828 sent cuttings of the plant he'd discovered in Southern Mexico to his home in Charleston, South Carolina. Poinsettia’s can be red or white. They have 6 to 8 leaves. I have seen lots of Poinsettia’s this month and know I know why.

I was chosen to pick a science topic I picked… chemicals. Science has lots of chemicals. Most chemicals are used for explosions. I probably will use chemicals in high school and college. You halved to be careful with chemicals they can dye your skin which could give you skin poison.

I also had to choose a music topic I chose the drum. Drums are used by hitting the head and it makes a thump sound. Most people have real drums but some have fake play drums. I personally love the drums I always have. I think drums started out as rocks with kids pounding them with sticks. Drums have gotten expensive.

Pearl Harbor, Staghorn Coral, and a Christmas Songs

December 7th, 1941 Japan attacks US Naval Base pearl in Hawaii. 2,400 Americans were killed, 21 ships were either sunken or damaged, and 188 aircraft destroyed. This attack officially brought the US into World War II. Japan decided to launch a surprise attack on the US in an attempt to destroy the US naval power. In total, 183 Japanese aircraft took to the air as part of the first wave of attack on Pearl Harbor. Commander Mitsuo Fuchida called out “Tora! Tora! Tora!” which means which means “Tiger! Tiger! Tiger!” which told the Japanese navy that they had caught the Americans by total surprise. At 8:00am, Admiral Husband Kimmel sent out a hurried dispatch to all in the US naval fleet “AIR RAID ON PEARL HARBOR X THIS IS NOT A DRILL”. Battleship row refers to the seven battle ships lined in a row at Pearl Harbor. Battleships in the row were Nevada, Arizona, Tennessee, West Virginia, Maryland, Oklahoma, and California.

Here are some facts about staghorn coral. No one knows how many kinds of staghorn corals there are. But scientists estimate there may be nearly 400 species. Only scientists can tell coral apart, these corals come in a confusing variety of shapes and colors. A single small reef may have hundreds of Acropora colonies growing on it.

I was supposed to pick a Christmas topic for my blog so I chose.....Christmas songs! Christmas songs are sung all through the year. Some Christmas are Jingle bells, Feliz Navida, we wish you a merry Christmas and many others. My favorite Christmas song is the Chipmunks Christmas song. Christmas songs have gone on for a long time.

Sea Gooseberry, Art Terms, and A Story about A Horse

Here are some facts about the sea gooseberry! Its maximum length is 2, 5 cm with the expansion of the testacies. Sea-gooseberries are completely transparent, while the pharynx and the tentacles are light white, yellow, or orange. On the exterior of the almost spherical body eight comb-rows are situated, which can shimmer with all of the colors of the rainbow. Sea-gooseberries have two long and branchy tentacles which they trail after themselves through the water. Compare with comb jellies and bolinopsis infudebulum.

Here are some art terms! A hue is another word for color. A tint is a hue. Balance is something used to produce equilibrium. Ceramics is how to prepare the surface so the pain won’t peel off. A form is cast shadows. A fresco is an art work and a technique.

Betsey was a magical horse. She looked like a soft white cloud. She also said the other horses were angel’s. One day when Betsey went for a walk.
